REAL MADRID have reactivated their attempts to sign Neymar from Paris St-Germain, according to reports.
The move comes in response to Cristiano Ronaldo’s decision to quit the Bernabeu for Juventus.
Real president Florentino Perez is desperate to bring the former Barcelona star to Madrid.
Losing Ronaldo is a huge blow both in football terms and to the ego of the European champions. Although far from a done deal, it looks increasingly likely that the Portugal captain is on his way to the Serie A title holders. Marca claim that Neymar is the only player in the world football that is up to the level of filling the void that Ronaldo will leave. But the problem will be convincing PSG to sell the star that they signed last summer for £200m.
Marca's report states that Real have been making ‘continuous approaches’ for the Brazilian in recent months. Neymar and his countrymen were knocked out of the World Cup by Belgium in a 2-1 defeat yesterday 6th, july 2018 and Neymar was again castigated for trying to win a penalty via simulation.
Meanwhile, right-back Alvaro Odriozola became Real’s first summer arrival in a £35m move from Real Sociedad yesterday.
New boss Julen Lopetegui has also tabled a £41.5m bid for Chelsea’s goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.
