Wayne Rooney has been accused of ‘not looking after his body’ and failing to get the best out of his career.
The former England captain was invited back to international football to claim his 120th and final cap against the USA on Thursday in honour of his achievements for the Three Lions.Rooney, who is still playing club football in America for DC United, is his country – as well as Manchester United’s – record goalscorer.
However, former Chelsea defender and talkSPORT presenter Jason Cundy feels as though the 33-year-old hasactually underachieved.
Comparing Rooney to his old United teammate Cristiano Ronaldo, Cundy claimed the Englishman really should have made more of his career.
The duo were insatiable together at Old Trafford, tearing defences apart at will as they romped to three Premier League titles and a Champions League medal.
But with Ronaldo still going strong in Serie A with Juventus, the talkSPORT host can’t help but wonder ‘what if?’ when it comes to the former Everton starlet.

“So we’re talking Wayne Rooney; is he going to go down as a Manchester United living legend, an England living legend as leading goalscorer for club and country?
“He doesn’t get in my first 11 for Manchester United and he doesn’t get into my greatest England team either.
“When I first saw him as a 16-year-old he is still the best English teenager I have ever seen.
“But think of this, Cristiano Ronaldo is older than Wayne Rooney. Yet he is still scoring goals in the Champions League, in Europe for his club and his country.
“Ronaldo is older than Rooney yet he’s at the top, and Rooney is in the USA.”
“Rooney could have been alongside Ronaldo but he didn’t look after himself.”@JasonCundy05 has strong views on @WayneRooney’s career
