Pep Guardiola press conference LIVE Man City boss previews Newport County FA Cup fixture

Pep Guardiola could provide some hints to his Manchester City team selection for the FA Cup tie at Newport tomorrow when he speaks to the press this afternoon.
City travel to the League Two side looking to better last season's FA Cupjourney that saw them knocked out in the fifth round at League One outfit Wigan.
Guardiola will likely make changes to his side from the starting XI that battered Chelsea last weekend, with a week of Champions League and Carabao Cup action following the trip to south Wales.
Newport boss Michael Flynn said a home win would constitute the 'biggest FA Cup win of all time.' He said: "I’m hoping they rest a few, I want a few of them to have a bad game and every single one of our players to play as well as they can."
Only I can say myself, and all my players, when they were young lads and they used to dream to play in these kind of games. It’s not the first time for them to play on this type of pitches. It is what it is.

Mendy and Kompany fit?

[They’re] not ready for tomorrow.

On rumours Newport have damaged pitch ahead of fixture

They play at home, they can do what they want. We have to adapt.
The big difference in football the past and right now is the pitches.
Now the pitch we see tomorrow, when we arrive at the stadium we are going to adapt. You don’t win anything complaining about that. We have to adapt.

What went wrong against Wigan last season?

It’s a long time ago, my friend. I forgot. In that game it was 10 vs 11. I think it was 85 minutes, 0-0, maybe you cannot win but you cannot lose. We could’ve had a replay here and we had a chance to use it and we missed it.
I never think about our successes or defeats in the past. We move forward.
Wigan at that time was first in League One and now are in the Championship, they were in a very good position. We played a decent game there, I was not unhappy. Unfortunately we were out and hopefully this season we can go through and go quite far.

Are players prepared?

They are ready, it’s not the first time they’ve played away in a cup competition in a lower division.
Away, anything can happen. Delph was sent off against Wigan last season and we went out.
In the Carabao Cup, Burton away at home, it’s difficult to go out because we have two chances.
The players are focused and prepared to do their own game, but the result I don’t know.

On watching Newport

I saw the game against Leicester and Boro. In the second leg they were outstanding, much better than Boro.

On preparing to play Newport

Normally when we play in the Premier League games, the players already know the opposition.
Most of the striekrs score goals, they are incredible. They use the channels, they put the ball in the box. We are going to suffer in the box because they are taller and stronger than us.
In some areas they are better than us.

Sane contract

Normally the club inform me when it’s already done. During the process it’s to do with the club, the agent and the players.

On Newport's pitch

We have to adapt. We play in Premier League against Tottenham after NFL games in earlier in the season. We have to accept it. It is what it is, and that’s all.

Would it be biggest shock in FA Cup history?

We prepare with a lot of respect they have done incredible in the competition, beating Leicester and Boro.
What they do they do really well. We respect them a lot. Always we try to understand the opponents.
In one game anything can happen. We will take it serioisly, I am sure of that.
