'Every blacks outside Africa should find their ways back' - Burna Boy

With his latest album, Twice As Tall, released last week, Burna Boy has outgrown his title of ‘African Giant’ and is taking on the world. But home will always be where his heart is. Now, he's asking his listeners to find out where their own hearts truly belong…

“Anywhere I go mo n’ lati pada si ile mi,” booms Burna Boy on the opening line of “Wonderful”, the lead single from his fifth studio album, Twice As Tall. It translates from pidgin English and Yoruba to “No matter where I go, I must return to my home.” It could be interpreted as the Nigerian artist committing to stay grounded in the wake of last year’s Grammy nominations, sold-out date at London’s Wembley SSE Arena and global recognition. But after speaking with him, it sounds much more like a rousing call to those with African heritage, both within and outside the continent, to remember and respect their roots. The way he sees it, Africa planted the seeds for modern society and, if we want to move it forward, then perhaps it’s time to go back to where it all began.

Burna Boy’s already there, of course, hunkered down in Lagos, Nigeria, where he’s seen out the pandemic while working from home on his album. “It's been great for me, but I can't say the same for everyone else,” he says of lockdown life. “I’ve spent it being creative, researching, finding out more about myself, learning more about ancestors, trying to exercise my mind and body.”

Released last Friday, Twice As Tall was crafted predominantly within his own home, a first for the 29-year-old, despite the fact that he’s almost a decade into his career. His particular brand of self-coined Afro-fusion, a sumptuous blend of global black sounds – Afrobeat, dancehall, reggae, rap and R&B – spearheaded a wave of mainstream Afro-influenced music that has crashed onto the shores of the UK with such force that we now have the recently launched Official Afrobeats Chart, giving the genre the same amount of recognition that rock, R&B and dance have enjoyed for decades. Burna Boy believes that it's resonated with British audiences so strongly due to the fact that most black people in UK are more aware of their roots, whereas lineage was erased by slavery in the US, but his London collaborator, Jae5, also sees another cause.

“It’s because of uni culture,” he says. “Before people such as Burna Boy and J Hus blew up, about seven years ago, DJs such as Stamina and DJ P Montana were throwing raves for 4,000, 5,000 people and all they were playing was Nigerian and Ghanaian music – straight up Afrobeats. The underground scene just kept on getting bigger and bigger and evolved into what it is now. I think it started way earlier than what people seem to think.”

Now, everyone's in on it and everyone wants to work with Burna Boy: most recently he's collaborated with Sam Smith, but his catalogue also includes songs with Stormzy, Dave, J Hus, Jorja Smith and Damian Marley, to name a few. Last year, he featured on Beyoncé's The Lion King soundtrack, The Gift (before we speak, I'm asked not to mention Black Is King, the visual album that was recently released to accompany it). For Twice As Tall, he called up Sean Combs (AKA Diddy) to ask if he would executive produce the album. Naturally, he obliged.

Despite the external input, his sound hasn’t changed since last year’s astronomically successful African Giant. More heavyweight features come in the form of Coldplay’s Chris Martin on the impassioned, reggae-influenced track “Monsters You Made”, but producers such as LeriQ, Telz, P2J and London’s own Jae5 have ensured the Afro-fusion flavour still runs through.

Jae5 worked on Twice As Tall’s “Bank On It”, after collaborating with Burna Boy on his third album, Outside, and his features with J Hus and Dave, and recalls working on the track with him and Randy Valentine. “The vibe was amazing. We got in the studio, they hotboxed the room – I don’t even smoke, but it gets me intoxicated,” he says, laughing. They were supposed to be working on another song, but Burna Boy and Valentine wanted to start fresh when things weren’t falling into place. “I was like, ‘It’s the drugs,’ but it turned out to be way better than what we were originally doing. It was natural. Randy was on the keyboard, I was playing the bass and he was just vibesing the melody for an hour. It was just us jamming.” It wasn’t long before Burna Boy was ready to get into the booth. “He kind of just freestyled the song within an hour.” So, as Burna Boy himself puts it, from Twice As Tall you can “Expect Burna Boy to be doing what Burna Boy does: educating and bringing the vibes at the same time.”

The vibes are important, but it’s the education of his listeners that Burna Boy is most passionate about – or the reeducation, the process of unlearning and rediscovering what truly matters, that he believes is the key to unlocking our full potential. Everything we think we know is wrong, he insists. “There's no topic that you've actually been educated on. Not one. None of us were taught or ever given the knowledge that would actually help us. No one was taught any knowledge that actually teaches them about themselves. At the end of the day, everyone was taught someone else's reality.”

The phrase “History is written by the victors” comes to mind, an adage that has been repeated and shared widely as Western society reckons with its pervasive problem with racism and reevaluates its past. As Black Lives Matter protests erupted across the world in response to police brutality in America, Burna Boy has watched from afar. “It is something that brings me so much joy to see, because this is something that couldn't have been accomplished in 20 or 30 years,” he says of the movement and the increased solidarity it has created among black people globally. “It’s all fallen into place in this one year. It brings hope that we're not hopeless people.” It all comes back to the idea of relearning and rebuilding. “Now is the time to rise up, teach and take our rightful place in the world.”

Even though Burna Boy has not been at the protests himself, his music has been, soundtracking resistance in places such as London, where a video of protesters dancing to his track “Ye” went viral. “That is one thing that really gives me a sense of happiness, pride and accomplishment. Seeing things like that motivates me to go on.” It’s no surprise that his music has found a home at demonstrations, himself previously calling it “protest music”. As much as his songs uplift and inspire its listeners to dance with their infectious beats, sun-soaked production and his powerful but comforting vocals, they are also deeply defiant, from their non-conformity to a single genre to his often political lyrics.

“I didn't grow up the same way that 90 per cent of my peers did,” he says. “We've always been rebels, me and my whole family, so it's just kind of who I am.” Burna Boy’s grandfather was Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti’s manager, with his mother later taking on the role, and the artist’s presence in his life has clearly influenced him, from his advocacy for black power to his music. “He's the embodiment of protest music. I learned lessons from him, good and bad, from his experiences and music. There are so many songs [that influenced me]: ‘Army Arrangement’, ‘Coffin For Head Of State’, ‘Buy Africa’. I can't name them in one go.”

At the end of the final track on African Giant, “Spiritual”, you hear a quote from the acceptance speech Burna Boy’s mother gave when she accepted his BET Best International Act award last year on his behalf. “The message from Burna, I believe, would be that every black person should please remember that you were Africans before you became anything else.” He takes this idea a step further when we speak. “If I had my way, every black person that's outside of Africa should be deported back to Africa.” Initially, I’m taken aback. It sounds too similar to the “go back home” rhetoric that black British people are too often subjected to from racists. But his point is less about belonging and more about pooling talents to create an Africa that is as powerful and respected as other continents.

“It’s just so that we can build Africa and get rid of all the animals and the vampires who refuse to die, who are so old, who are just running us into hell and have been for centuries,” he says, clarifying that “the vampires” are Africa’s leaders. “The only way Africa can become the powerhouse that it should be is to get rid of all the African leaders that are here right now, because they have done us no good. The only way that can happen is if you all come back and do what you have to do.” I ask the first, perhaps naive, question that pops into my head: the African diaspora is so vast, how would everyone fit? “Where you are now, you think there's room for you?” Literally and figuratively, maybe he has a point. “Your ancestors are calling you right now. This is the time.”

Burna Boy is a man of few words – “If I had my way, you wouldn't even know what I sound like talking” – but when he speaks, he does so with an air of wisdom that’s beyond his years and, in the moment, can convince you that everything he’s saying must be true. If you do indeed believe that everything he says is true, then his wisdom can be explained by the fact that this is not his first shot at the game of life.

“The purpose of this world is the pursuit of your highest self. I believe that if you don't reach the highest self and you leave this world, you end up coming back,” he says. “Right now, the system is not set up for people to find their higher selves, so what we're going to see is just a bunch of recycled people that have been recycled and recycled and recycled into this world. It's up to you to break all the norms and get rid of everything you think you know and get back to what they call the default setting. You have to empty your cup in order to be able to fill up with the divine.”

How many times has Burna Boy been recycled? “Oh, I think I've been here at least four times, because I just don't see things the way other people see it and, most of the time, it just comes across as so stupid to me. I might come across as arrogant, or not wanting to be understanding, or whatever, but the thing is I am. I do understand and that is why I feel so angry about what I'm seeing. It’s the fact that I understand what I'm seeing, but the people who are going through it don't even understand.”

Whether you believe in reincarnation or not, Burna Boy’s confident approach to life ultimately boils down to experience. The lens through which he sees the world is framed by his global appeal that has allowed him to travel the world. The awards and recognition are nice, sure, but this is what he seems to value about his position in the public eye more than anything else.

“It's been great, man,” he says when asked how he’s adjusted to his increased visibility over the past few years. “It's been overwhelming and it's been emotional at the same time, because if I hadn't become this global I wouldn't have been able to see firsthand the marginalisation, injustice and reality outside of my constituency.” It probably won't surprise many to learn that the place that shocked him the most was America. “I've done about four or five tours. I am someone who has seen more of America than even some Americans. It's unbelievable. It's almost unspeakable the things that go on and just go unnoticed, unpunished and unsaid.”

As an outsider looking in, Burna Boy’s rise up the global charts feels incredibly significant. Here is a Nigerian man, unapologetic about his heritage and beliefs, unwilling to bend to placate Western tastes, and he’s become one of the biggest artists in the world. As Jae5 notes, the African artists who he grew up watching crossover into the Western mainstream would always adopt American accents when doing interviews. Burna Boy does the opposite. Apparently, thanks to a few years spent in London for schooling during his teens, he often speaks with a British accent among friends. “Burna Boy is confident in being an African and it's made people proud,” says Jae5. “Making people feel proud about who they are, I believe, is a huge part of his success.” I wonder if, as the insider looking out, Burna Boy can also sense that he is a symbol of something much greater than record sales and sold-out arenas.

“That's the thing. We're all part of something monumental,” Burna Boy says, matter-of-factly. “We're all part of something larger than all of us. I just know that, unlike a lot of other people who don't know that they are a part of this grand scheme. I was just fortunate enough to realise early that this is what I'm a part of. I'm just not going to fuck around and be gone.” His enlightenment only came three years ago, so don’t worry if you’re not on Burna Boy’s level yet. It will, hopefully, one day click into place. As he says, “Life just wasn't making sense anymore, until it made sense.”

Davido's relationship with Chioma falling apart

+A report spread round the internet assumes that singer Davido and Chioma have ended their relationship

+Following words from blogger, Stella Dimoko Korkus, the celebrity couple are reportedly living separately

+The news of the singer expecting another child is yet to be confirmed as the reason for the breakup

Social media is currently trolling with reactions following the news that Davido and his fiancee/baby mama, Chioma Rowland, have broken up.

According to popular blogger, Stella Dimoko Korkus (SDK) who shared the news, the couple are believed to be currently living in separate homes and are not on speaking terms with each other.

SDK also alleged that insiders revealed that Chioma did not have COVID19 as earlier made to believe. According to the gist, the couple had a fight back then and that story was sold to the public to hide ‘slap marks and punch marks’.

Part of her post reads: "Even though there are allegations that the couple are no longer together because he welcomed a new child with a 4th lady,I cannot say for certain that it is true but you can take it to the Bank that what is tearing them apart is greater than what bound them together.

There are also whispers that the story about being passed from her alleged ex to him also did some damage to their love…..sad!

Davido and Chioma are no longer as active as they used to be on their social media handles and Chioma has recently began to disable commenting from her page because of trolls while he is allegedly trying to recover and drop the crutches."

Recall earlier on, circletalks had reported the news of how Davido was trending on social media. It was believed that he may have welcomed his 4th child with a woman based in the UK.

According to an Instagram blog, Gist Merchant, the singer’s latest baby mama is one Larissa Yasmin Lorenco also known as Larissa London, a UK-based make up artist born and raised in Angola.

The report also claim that the woman may have been in his life as far back as 2017 as she was seen in the background in a viral photo of the singer and American rapper, Cardi B.

Holy Trinity Sunday

Mr. President,

In recent months we have been witnessing the formation of two opposing sides that I would call Biblical: the children of light and the children of darkness. The children of light constitute the most conspicuous part of humanity, while the children of darkness represent an absolute minority. And yet the former are the object of a sort of discrimination which places them in a situation of moral inferiority with respect to their adversaries, who often hold strategic positions in government, in politics, in the economy and in the media. In an apparently inexplicable way, the good are held hostage by the wicked and by those who help them either out of self-interest or fearfulness.

These two sides, which have a Biblical nature, follow the clear separation between the offspring of the Woman and the offspring of the Serpent. On the one hand there are those who, although they have a thousand defects and weaknesses, are motivated by the desire to do good, to be honest, to raise a family, to engage in work, to give prosperity to their homeland, to help the needy, and, in obedience to the Law of God, to merit the Kingdom of Heaven. On the other hand, there are those who serve themselves, who do not hold any moral principles, who want to demolish the family and the nation, exploit workers to make themselves unduly wealthy, foment internal divisions and wars, and accumulate power and money: for them the fallacious illusion of temporal well-being will one day – if they do not repent – yield to the terrible fate that awaits them, far from God, in eternal damnation.

In society, Mr. President, these two opposing realities co-exist as eternal enemies, just as God and Satan are eternal enemies. And it appears that the children of darkness – whom we may easily identify with the deep state which you wisely oppose and which is fiercely waging war against you in these days – have decided to show their cards, so to speak, by now revealing their plans. They seem to be so certain of already having everything under control that they have laid aside that circumspection that until now had at least partially concealed their true intentions. The investigations already under way will reveal the true responsibility of those who managed the Covid emergency not only in the area of health care but also in politics, the economy, and the media. We will probably find that in this colossal operation of social engineering there are people who have decided the fate of humanity, arrogating to themselves the right to act against the will of citizens and their representatives in the governments of nations.

We will also discover that the riots in these days were provoked by those who, seeing that the virus is inevitably fading and that the social alarm of the pandemic is waning, necessarily have had to provoke civil disturbances, because they would be followed by repression which, although legitimate, could be condemned as an unjustified aggression against the population. The same thing is also happening in Europe, in perfect synchrony. It is quite clear that the use of street protests is instrumental to the purposes of those who would like to see someone elected in the upcoming presidential elections who embodies the goals of the deep state and who expresses those goals faithfully and with conviction. It will not be surprising if, in a few months, we learn once again that hidden behind these acts of vandalism and violence there are those who hope to profit from the dissolution of the social order so as to build a world without freedom: Solve et Coagula, as the Masonic adage teaches.

Although it may seem disconcerting, the opposing alignments I have described are also found in religious circles. There are faithful Shepherds who care for the flock of Christ, but there are also mercenary infidels who seek to scatter the flock and hand the sheep over to be devoured by ravenous wolves. It is not surprising that these mercenaries are allies of the children of darkness and hate the children of light: just as there is a deep state, there is also a deep church that betrays its duties and forswears its proper commitments before God. Thus the Invisible Enemy, whom good rulers fight against in public affairs, is also fought against by good shepherds in the ecclesiastical sphere. It is a spiritual battle, which I spoke about in my recent Appeal which was published on May 8.

For the first time, the United States has in you a President who courageously defends the right to life, who is not ashamed to denounce the persecution of Christians throughout the world, who speaks of Jesus Christ and the right of citizens to freedom of worship. Your participation in the March for Life, and more recently your proclamation of the month of April as National Child Abuse Prevention Month, are actions that confirm which side you wish to fight on. And I dare to believe that both of us are on the same side in this battle, albeit with different weaponsFor this reason, I believe that the attack to which you were subjected after your visit to the National Shrine of Saint John Paul II is part of the orchestrated media narrative which seeks not to fight racism and bring social order, but to aggravate dispositions; not to bring justice, but to legitimize violence and crime; not to serve the truth, but to favor one political faction. And it is disconcerting that there are Bishops – such as those whom I recently denounced – who, by their words, prove that they are aligned on the opposing side. They are subservient to the deep state, to globalism, to aligned thought, to the New World Order which they invoke ever more frequently in the name of a universal brotherhood which has nothing Christian about it, but which evokes the Masonic ideals of those want to dominate the world by driving God out of the courts, out of schools, out of families, and perhaps even out of churches.

The American people are mature and have now understood how much the mainstream media does not want to spread the truth but seeks to silence and distort it, spreading the lie that is useful for the purposes of their masters. However, it is important that the good – who are the majority – wake up from their sluggishness and do not accept being deceived by a minority of dishonest people with unavowable purposes. It is necessary that the good, the children of light, come together and make their voices heard. What more effective way is there to do this, Mr. President, than by prayer, asking the Lord to protect you, the United States, and all of humanity from this enormous attack of the Enemy? Before the power of prayer, the deceptions of the children of darkness will collapse, their plots will be revealed, their betrayal will be shown, their frightening power will end in nothing, brought to light and exposed for what it is: an infernal deception.

Mr. President, my prayer is constantly turned to the beloved American nation, where I had the privilege and honor of being sent by Pope Benedict XVI as Apostolic Nuncio. In this dramatic and decisive hour for all of humanity, I am praying for you and also for all those who are at your side in the government of the United States. I trust that the American people are united with me and you in prayer to Almighty God.

United against the Invisible Enemy of all humanity, I bless you and the First Lady, the beloved American nation, and all men and women of good will.

Alex Rodriguez Toilet Photo Being Shared Around Wall Street

ig@circletalkslive
Wall Street and New York media circles are abuzz with a creep shot of Alex Rodriguez on the toilet of his Park Avenue apartment, likely taken from the office of a nearby hedge fund. The photo, which shows him with his pants down and texting, has also made its way to Twitter and sent A-Rod’s legal team scrambling to discover the photog.
“Alex’s lawyers are all over this. They are working hard to find out who the culprit is. It is a clear breach of privacy. The photo was obviously taken from the building next door, from a floor possibly parallel to Alex’s apartment. One of the hedge funds in the building next door will be getting a big lawsuit.”
Rodriguez, a chronic job-holder who works baseball for ESPN and Fox in addition to his entrepreneurial efforts, is uniquely familiar with paparazzi thanks to his relationship with Jennifer Lopez. But candid shots out on the street are far different than having some VC bro named Hunter or Blake or Preston grabbing shots of you on the can from his office break-room.
The power couple paid $17.5 million for the apartment and it has 4.5 bathrooms, but none of that should matter. A man should be able to use the facilities in peace without fear of neighbors snapping authorized pictures. That’s just basic humanity right there.

Could Morata be in Danger of Becoming Football's Nearly Man?

Alvaro Morata almost scored with his first touch on his debut for Real Madrid.
Jose Mourinho was manager of Real Madrid at the time. It was December 2010, and the club was locked in a battle for La Liga with Pep Guardiola's Barcelona.
Mourinho threw on Morata—a tall, strong centre-forward from the youth academy—in the 89th minute against Real Zaragoza at their stadium, La Romareda. Morata was only 18 years old. He had it all.
"My abiding memory of Morata was his conditioning," Roberto Rojas—who played with Real Madrid's first team in the late 1990s and later coached at La Fabrica, the club's youth academy, for six years—told Circletalkslive
A minute after his introduction against Real Zaragoza, Morata broke free of the defence, but his shot on goal was parried at the last second by Zaragoza's advancing goalkeeper. Morata nearly scored. It could well be the story of his career—football's nearly man.
Real Madrid won the match, 3-1. Gabi—who was playing at Real Zaragoza in between the two spells that made him an icon at Atletico Madrid—scored Real Zaragoza's consolation goal.
After the match, as tears streamed down his cheeks, Morata presented his Real Madrid jersey to his father, Alfonso Morata, who said afterwards on Cadena SER, the radio network where he worked as a director: "I would not sell[the shirt] for €20 million."
Real Madrid did, however, sell his son for €20 million a few seasons later to Juventus (with a buy-back option).
Morata had impressed in the minutes he was given at Real Madrid and came on as a substitute in the victorious 2014 UEFA Champions League final, but he could never get ahead of Gonzalo Higuain and Karim Benzema in the queue for the club's No 9 position. In the same year he won his first cap for Spain, he was moved on to Turin.
During his first season at Juventus, he flourished, managing to nudge Fernando Llorente out of the starting XI. Morata scored several important goals in the 2014-2015 UEFA Champions League knockout stages, as well as one against Barcelona in the final as Juve came up just short in a thrilling campaign. Great things were expected in his second season with Juve, but he never kicked on.

Morata's two closest friends at the club—Simone Zaza, who was fourth-choice striker at Juventus, and Llorente—came and went.
"Zaza and Morata were two single guys, both living in Turin," says Digby. "They stuck up a really good friendship, hanging out on days off, shopping together, messing around at training together. There's a video of them doing ridiculous slides in the mud one day when it was pouring rain in training. Perhaps that played into Morata's[mindset]—he wasn't one of the kids messing around on the training ground anymore. He was the club's first-choice No 9. A lot more was expected of him and he didn't do it.
"Maybe not having Llorente, too—who picked Morata up at the airport and did things like taking him to the dentist because he didn't know the Italian words for 'toothache' and so on—meant Morata was taken out of his comfort zone. He's a sensitive guy and a really quiet and shy kid as well."
During his time at Juventus, Morata struck up a relationship with the club's goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon. Morata looked to Buffon as a mentor.
Buffon took Morata aside one day after witnessing Morata crying to their physio because he was sad, as noted by Sid Lowe in the Guardian.
Morata returned to Real Madrid in the summer of 2016 and again scored decisive goals for the club as Real Madrid won their first league title in five years (as well as another UEFA Champions League crown).
He was then sold to Chelsea at the end of the 2016-17 season for a club-record fee of €80 million, which represented a profitable piece of business for Real Madrid—like Jese, who went to Paris Saint-Germain for a reported fee of €25 million a year earlier—on one of their academy graduates.
"Morata has a very good reputation at Real Madrid," Joaquin Maroto, a journalist with Diario AS who has been covering Spain's national team for 30 years, told B/R. "At the club, he had the same problem that a lot of players have who come from the academy—often they go on to play as internationals, but at Real Madrid, they are reserves.

"Players like Juan Mata, who is at Manchester United now. He was a player at La Fabrica but he played with Spain at the [Santiago] Bernabeu before ever playing with Real Madrid at the stadium. Alvaro Negredo is another. What happened to Morata is happening now to Isco, who is a starter for the Spain national team and a sub for Real Madrid. For a young guy like Morata, it was difficult."
Gabriele Marcotti, ESPN senior writer and a Times columnist, concurs. Morata faced a trying time at the club that nurtured him. Even though Morata scored 15 goals in 14 starts during Real Madrid's 2016-2017 league-winning campaign, he could never expect to supplant the club's front three—Gareth Bale, Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo—as a starter.
"Morata's trajectory above all says a lot about Madrid," says Marcotti. "Here you have a guy who has come through the ranks, who is very much steeped in the club. He breaks into the team when they have won La Decima [the club's tenth European Cup]. There's a very expensive, very entrenched frontline of Bale, Benzema and Cristiano. In 10, 20 years, we'll look back on this Real Madrid era and that front three and how they were really untouchable. For them to get dropped from the lineup they had to basically get hurt.
"Morata is faced with the dilemma: 'OK, I'm here. I'm young. I'm promising. Do I stick around and try to impose myself knowing that in the front three are two of the most expensive players of all time and a guy in Karim Benzema who has been there forever and who is very much the president's man, who is very popular with Florentino Perez?'
"From the club's perspective, they send him to Italy, telling him, 'Do well and you'll come back.' He goes to Italy, does well. He grows. He comes back. He scores a ton of goals off the bench, but the club makes it obvious to him that Bale, Benzema and Cristiano are mainstays, and, 'Sometimes we'll play with Isco in the front three, so off you go to Chelsea.'"

After initially impressing at Chelsea, which included an early season hat-trick against Stoke City, Morata's performances have tapered off.
According to Cope (h/t the Express), he's been lined up to go on loan. He has only just turned 26 years old, but his career is drifting.
Digby makes the point that Morata has trouble assuming the mantle of being the boss. A player like Ronaldo, for example, grows with the responsibility of being a team's franchise player; it seems that Morata wilts in the role.
"Morata can be devastating in spells," says Digby. "He can surprise people when little is expected of him. Once the expectation is there, it really shows. We saw that with his second season at Juve. Then he went back to Real Madrid in 2016 and he was quite good again. He obviously convinced Chelsea to invest heavily in him, and he's failed to live up to that, too.
"That weight of expectation of being the main man in attack has plagued him ever since. He was fine being the backup to Llorente at Juve. He was fine being the backup to Cristiano Ronaldo at Real Madrid. When he was made first-choice at Juve and again when he was the main man at Chelsea when they spent all that money on him, he's struggled to live up to the hype. I guess that's kind of who he is."

Paul Scholes Ends Cristiano Ronaldo vs Lionel Messi Debate With The Perfect Answer

The debate as to whether Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo is the true GOAT will never be resolved among fans. Fact.
For every person who thinks the little Argentinian is the best, another will disagree and say it's CR7's title.

That being said, in a four-way SPORTbible Twitter poll, 26,104 people voted for their GOAT and five-time Balon d'Or winner Lionel Messi came out on top with 44% of the vote, Ronaldo 36%, Pele 15% and Maradona 6% etc.

But what does former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes think about the comparison?
Despite playing with Ronaldo for a number of years during his time at Old Trafford, the now-BT Sport pundit believes Messi is the better out of the two, hailing his all round game.

In an interview with ESPN, Scholes said the three players he enjoys most watching, before stating the following about Cristiano and Leo:
"Modric, [Toni] Kroos, Messi. Watching Messi against Tottenham at Wembley made me think about the Messi and [Cristiano] Ronaldo debate again," Scholes said.
"Messi (is the best) but Ronaldo is brilliant. Ronaldo is sensational at what he does, with pace and power.
"He scores, he takes free-kicks. But as an all-round footballer, Messi - wow, his passing - has absolutely everything."
Scholes went on to take a swipe at his former club's current situation, claiming that Messi would even struggle at Old Trafford.

Let's get another perspective on the debate. Pep Guardiola knows Lionel Messi better than most. Between 2008 and 2012, the former Barcelona manager guided the 30-year-old to Ballon d'Ors and Champions League trophies.
It was a relationship that blossomed from day one.
Messi was Guardiola's biggest fan, and vice versa. Pep knew how to manage this incredibly gifted Argentine during his time at the Camp Nou and the numbers speak for themselves.
The current Manchester City manager has once again spoken about the five time Ballon d'Or winner in a great light, referring to him as 'the best player' he has ever seen.

In an interview with L'Esportiu, Guardiola explained why Lionel Messi is the very best:
"He is the best player I have ever seen."
"The best thing about him is not what he does but how simple he makes everything look."
"He is not just the best player because he can dribble past three or four players, it is because he does it better than anyone in the world."
The Ronaldo vs Messi debate will live on forever, but Guardiola thinks that Messi comes out on top in the rivalry.

Cristiano Ronaldo Allegedly Raped A Girl

An American girl has accused former Manchester United, Real Madrid and current Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo for raping her back in 2009.

IlBianconeri state that a story on Der Spiegel is expected to be out in the newstands tomorrow which has an American girl called Kathryn Mayorga claiming that Ronaldo raped her in 2009, days after he had left Manchester United to join Real Madrid.

It is said that Ronaldo was on vacation in Las Vegas in the summer of 2009 with his cousin and brother-in-law and Kathryn claims that she was raped in Ronaldo's hotel room on a night during that period. She has also claimed that months after the incident, Ronaldo had struck a deal with Kathryn and had paid about 375,000 dollars to her such that she doesn't reveal anything about the alleged rape to anyone.

The girl though, has now broken his silence and has now talked to Der Speigel about the incident.

Kathryn has given further details about the incident and has claimed that she was screaming 'no' when she was being dragged and raped in the bathroom and the bedroom. The report that will come out tomorrow will also claim that Der Speigel journalists have tried to contact Ronaldo about the alleged rape, but the Portuguese's lawyers have turned the requests down constantly.

Kathryn's lawyer- Leslie Mark Stovall has also told Italian magazine L'Espresso more details about the incident and has said that the payment deal is invalid since it was done to take advantage of Kathryn's fragility.

Stovall has also revealed that they had appealed to the Nevada court about the case but the appeal was deemed invalid. The lawyer also claims that in an e-mail that he received, Ronaldo has declared that Kathryn did not scream out for help and thus, the intercourse happened with her consent.

Kathryn has again tried contacting the police several times over the last few weeks and it all depends on whether the Nevada court will reopen the case or not.

P-Square Considering A Re-union

Peter Okoye, the one half of the disbanded group, Psquare, has stated the condition under which he might reunite with his brother, Paul, on stage.
Speaking on the the possibility of a P-Square reunion in an interview with Hot 93.3Fm, Ghana, Peter, who now goes by the Mr P, said, ‘’Even if that (a reunion) will happen, let it happen with respect, it is not just about the music, there was family before the music and I stand for the Okoyes.
“I shouldn’t be P-Square and be unhappy, if it must happen, it must be with respect”, he said.
He also touched on his music, life as a solo artist and the possibility of a reunion with his brother in the interview.
Reacting to comments that followed his separation with his brother, he said, ”When P Square broke up, People were like, are you sure you can do this all alone, can he make it?
“No, I am not making it, I have done it, I have been killing it, all sold out, just this year alone, I have done like 60 ‘something’ concerts, all sold out, I am blessed.
“Most people actually doubted me, but I know myself, I know what I bring to the table, I am just happy doing what I am doing, there are some things I wasn’t entitled to do as a member of the group, but now I am a boss of myself’.”
The singer, who just released a new single titled Ebeano, said, ”You have heard, Look In My Eyes, you have heard, My Way and Cool It Down. All these are my mini music video singles, Ebeano is my first official single as Mr P’.”
Reacting to allegations of illegal music sampling levelled against him by an upcoming singer, Henry Knight, he said: ”When this kind of thing happens, some people just jump into conclusion. I think people need to be educated on this issue… there is a different thing, if it is the beat, or if it is a statement in the song, there is only so much you can use of it.”
Since going solo, critics have described him as an upcoming artiste and Mr P said he cannot be bothered.
Instead, he encouraged people to leave their ‘comfort zones’ when striving for success.
”I made up my mind I wanted to start afresh, I left a P-Square who had over a million YouTube subscribers to start my own… I am not afraid to start afresh… I have moved on, I love it.”
On if he has plans to work with younger talents, ”I am an open person, as long as the song is good, why not? I am actually considering doing that”.
Mr P plans to release more songs during the course of the year, as he wants his fans to have a feel of his own music.
P-Square split in September 2017, after Peter allegedly accused Paul and their elder brother Jude of shortchanging him. They began their career in 2003.
In March 2016, the duo disagreed over what Peter perceived as lopsidedness in individual input of songs, which was getting featured on their joint albums.
Peter accused Paul of being uncooperative and ruining their plans as a group for a musical tour in the U.S.
The twins, known for their engaging dance routines and electronic style songs, dominated the Nigerian music industry for many years and became pop idols.

Arsene Wenger ‘Favourite To Replace Zidane As Real Madrid Manager’

Arsene Wenger ‘Favourite To Replace Zidane As Real Madrid Manager’
Following the news that Zinedine Zidane has stepped down as Real Madrid manager, there are strong rumours in Spain that former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is the favourite to become the new Bernabeu coach.
Following Zidane’s departure, bookmakers believe it is Wenger who is most likely to take over from his countryman after that wildly successful two-and-a-half years in charge, Metro UK reports.
Frank Lampard Appointed New Manager Of Derby County
Bear in mind that earlier this month, Wenger had revealed that he turned down the advances of Real Madrid “two or three times” during his tenure at Arsenal.
The former Arsenal gaffer, who has close ties with Real Madrid President Florentino Perez had told beIN sports that “Real Madrid, I think I turned them down two or three times. They are one of the teams I loved as a kid but I felt it was a very sensitive period for Arsenal.”
“When we built the (Emirates) stadium, the banks asked me to commit for five years. The first time, it was inside the five years and I thought ‘I cannot do that’, it would be betraying my club.”
“You are always tempted to go to Real Madrid because they offered me the chance to take control of the whole club.”
“At the end of the day, I said no once, twice. I turned so many clubs down you could believe it. At the end of the day, I was happy where I was as well.”
With Wenger now available and suggesting he wants to continue working in the game at the age of 68, his appointment may be viewed by Perez as the perfect stop gap with some of the likely contenders for the job seemingly unavailable.
Wenger is just 5/2 to be the next Real Madrid manager while Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is also thought to be in the frame (3/1) despite having signed a new five-year contract with Spurs last week.
Real Madrid youth team coach Guti (11/2), Chelsea boss Antonio Conte (7/1) and Germany manager Joachim Loew (7/1) are also in the running.
The bookies are also not ruling out the likes of Max Allegri (16/1), Diego Simeone (22/1) and Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp (22/1).

The Pretty Ushers & Torres Bizarre Award. 4 Things You Might Have Missed From The #GOtvMAXCup

Europa League winners Atletico Madrid beat a Nigerian selection 3-2 in a friendly on Tuesday at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.

The game which was entertaining from start to finish had Kelechi Nwakali put the home team in front in the 31st minute with a superb strike from outside the box that beat goalkeeper Jan Oblak.

Before Torres and Correa overturned the match in favour of the Spaniards. Usman Mohammed scored a beautiful individual goal but Atleti were to have the final say as  youngster Joaquin blasted home from close range

Asides the action on the pitch, here are 4 things you might have missed.

1.     1. The Award Given To Torres
Fernando Torres who played his final game for Atletico Madrid in Uyo received an artwork. The gigantic piece is the 1000 naira note carved on a metallic frame. The award left everyone wondering its significance to Fernando Torres.
Was the game his 1000th? Or the goal he scored his 1000th? What exactly is the idea behind the artwork? Any genius in the house? Please help

2.  The Trophy Celebration
A host of dignitaries which included the NFF President Amaju Pinnick,  Vice President Seyi Akinwunmi, LMC Chairman Shehu Dikko, Akwa Ibom Governor Udom Emmanuel amongst others were present to hand the trophy for the GoTv Max Cup to Fernando Torres.
When it was handed over, his team mates weren’t with him. It looked more like an individual award
The whole process wasn’t properly done so much so that the sponsors banner was missed when the team took their group trophy picture

The Pretty Ushers
Uyo fans were greeted by the adorable ushers who handed the trophy and accolades to the players. Such beauty!

“Counterfeit Jerseys” Everywhere
The NFF released a statement last week saying that the “authentic kits” of  the Super Eagles which was unveiled in March would be available in June hence fans should not purchase the fake ones flooding the market.

Really? Two months down the line, the kits aren’t still available and you expect Nigerians to wait? Trust Aba boys, they never disappoint.
